Business continuity and disaster recovery options are arguably the most important decisions you will face as an IT director. ATS leads the industry in this arena and can provide you with the tools necessary to survive any number of threats.
The main objective of this service is to provide business continuity and data redundancy in the event of a catastrophic, or perhaps more likely, hardware failure at the main facility. To this end we have available Oracle's Data Guard solution. Data Guard consists of two identical Linux servers placed in geographically separated locations and internal processes keep a copy of your data on the second server. These datasets are consistent to within 24 hours.
In addition to the redundant database, a means to utilize the second dataset in the absence of the primary should be considered. In our solution, we place an application server in both facilities that will house database servers.
Users at remote locations currently use terminal services to connect to the OpenOne application. Another application server running terminal services placed in the same Network Operations Center as the secondary database provides a means for users to connect in a way that is familiar to them, and saves time and energy when switching over in an emergency.
In order to achieve this goal, modifications must be made to the standard ATS IT infrastructure.
